VERTIC congratulates the State of Palestine on becoming the 180th State Party to the Biological and Toxin Weapons Convention. The State of Palestine deposited its instrument of accession with Russia and the United Kingdom (two of the Convention’s depositaries) on 9 January 2018.
Scott Spence, Programme Director for National Implementation and Larry MacFaul, Programme Director for Verification and Monitoring, participated in the 2017 EU Non-proliferation and Disarmament Conference during 12-13 December in Palais d’Egmont, Brussels.
On 7 – 8 December 2017, VERTIC in collaboration the Namibian Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation hosted a training workshop on International Safeguards, Non-Proliferation and Control of Nuclear Material in Windhoek, Namibia.

VERTIC’s Programme Director for National Implementation, Scott Spence, participated in Fact-Finding Visits in Brunei Darussalam and Malaysia during 20-24 November as part of EU CBRN Risk Mitigation Centres of Excellence Project 61. These were the first two of ten visits to the project countries through March 2018.
