The 27th Session of the Conference of States Parties (CSP) to the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC) took place last week in The Hague, from 28th November – 2nd December, 2022. NIM Associate Legal Officer Suzanna Khoshabi attended for the first two days. The CSP meets annually in The Hague and is tasked with overseeing implementation of the CWC, promoting the Convention’s objectives, and reviewing compliance with the treaty.
The CSP is also an opportunity to meet and liaise with other civil society organisations in attendance. NIM lead the drafting process for the Joint NGO Statement on Full National Implementation of the Convention and Suzanna delivered the statement via video recording, on behalf of the drafting group. All NGO statements were broadcast during the CSP on Wednesday, 30th November and are available to view on the OPCW website here.
