The 2022 IAEA Safeguards Symposium will take place from 31st October – 4th November this year with the theme of ‘Reflecting on the Past and Anticipating the Future’. Alongside traditional panels and papers, the IAEA is preparing future scenarios for 2057 to stimulate thought for safeguards implementation. VERTIC participated in a three day workshop at the Vienna Center for Disarmament and Non-Proliferation from 18-20th July to design these scenarios alongside other NGOs.
VERTIC provided input on emerging and disruptive technologies, challenges and evolution of the nuclear industry and contributing to discussions on the political and economic context.
