On June 22 VERTIC and the NPS Global Foundation hosted the forth online workshop of a series of five within the Project Building Capacity on Multilateral Verification of Nuclear Disarmament.
Such a project focuses on harnessing, developing, supporting and sustaining expertise and capacity on nuclear disarmament verification (NDV) in regions around the world. The fourth online meeting discussed at length the establishment of an NDV hub in Latin America: the papers Adding functionality for NDV to Existing Regional and Bilateral Public Institutions in the Context of either ABACC or OPANAL and Rationale and Feasibility for an Independent Private Hub in Latin America for Nuclear Disarmament Verification were presented and debated.
The meeting was attended by diplomats and experts from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay, Uruguay and organisations such as ABACC, OPANAL and UNRILEC.
