On 1 October, the OECD Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA), hosted a roundtable discussion to celebrate what would have been the 20th anniversary of the International School of Nuclear Law (ISNL), an annual two-week nuclear law course usually taking place in Montpellier and which a number of former and current VERTIC staff attended.

The virtual event brought together ISNL lecturers from the NEA, International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), public and private sectors and academia, who discussed recent developments in international nuclear law.

Sonia Drobysz, VERTIC Programme Director for National Implementation, spoke on “Ensuring nuclear security during a pandemic” during session 3, before Cristian de Francia, Legal Officer at the IAEA, addressed safeguards and Laura Rockwood, Director at Open Nuclear Network and VERTIC trustee, briefed the participants on current non-proliferation issues.
