On 5 December, VERTIC’s Executive Director, Andreas Persbo, attended a Northeast Asia Forum on the ‘Prospects and Tasks of Arms Control on the Korean Peninsula’ held in Seoul.

The meeting convened several leading experts from the region and from further afield to explore the direction of inter-Korean confidence building and arms control. It also sought to examine possible policy solutions for the possible verification of nuclear arms limitation or elimination in the region.

The sessions drew lessons from past cases of arms reductions and strived to adapt these lessons to the specific security environment on the Korean Peninsula. VERTIC is grateful to the organisers, the Research Institute for National Security Affairs, for their kind invitation to attend this important event.
