Noel Stott, Senior Researcher, participated in the 39th ESARDA Symposium on Safeguards and Nuclear Non-Proliferation, held at the Meliá Düsseldorf, in Düsseldorf, Germany from 16-18 May 2017. He also delivered a presentation in one of the sessions.

Noel Stott, Senior Researcher, participated in the 39th ESARDA Symposium on Safeguards and Nuclear Non-Proliferation, held at the Meliá Düsseldorf, in Düsseldorf, Germany from 16-18 May 2017. He also delivered a presentation in one of the sessions.

The symposium is an opportunity for leading professional from research organisations, safeguards authorities and nuclear plant operators to exchange information on recent developments in nuclear safeguards and non-proliferation related research activities and equipment.

Topics covered included: Safeguards Concepts and Implementation; Control Measures; Technologies; Safeguards-Relevant Information; Human Factors; and, Verification.

Mr Stott presented the initial findings of VERTIC’s project examining the feasibility of establishing a multilateral Group of Scientific Experts (GS) as a means to increase the common knowledge-base on options for nuclear disarmament verification.

The project will continue until October 2017.
