VERTIC held a 2-day regional workshop for Middle East states on 'Approaches to national legislation for nuclear, biological and chemical weapons agreements' at the Cooperative Monitoring Center in Amman, Jordan (CMC-Amman) on 29-30 August 2006. The workshop attracted the participation of some 20 representatives from Algeria, Egypt, Iran, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Syria and Turkey. The UN Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) also sent a representative.

VERTIC is grateful to the UK Global Opportunities Fund (GOF) for funding the workshop and to the Cooperative Monitoring Centre in Amman for its excellent administrative support.
