VERTIC participates in INTERPOL symposium on countering terrorism threat to food supplies

Scott Spence, Programme Director for National Implementation, participated in an international symposium co-organised by INTERPOL and the FBI on countering terrorism threats to the food supply. The symposium took place in Lyon, France during 10-12 May. The 110 participants from law enforcement and regulatory agencies heard about legislation and regulation; insider threats; communications strategies; food chain security; investigative processes; international notification and multi-agency coordination. Mr Spence gave a presentation, available here, on establishing laws and regulations to protect the food supply from contamination with biological agents or highly toxic chemicals.
