VERTIC participates in 11th International Security Forum in Geneva

Scott Spence, Programme Director for National Implementation, participated in the 11th International Security Forum in Geneva during 13-15 June. The ISF was sponsored by the Swiss Federal Departments of Defence, Civil Protection and Sport as well as Foreign Affairs. It was organised by the Geneva Centre for Security Policy in partnership with the Center for Security Studies, Geneva Centre for the Democratic Control of the Armed Forces, the Geneva International Centre for Humanitarian Demining and the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies.

The ISF was oriented around three themes under which panel discussions were held in parallel sessions: Systems in Fluidity; Security, Development and Peacekeeping; and Devising Responses. Mr Spence participated in discussions on making sense of the new global disorder, curbing the proliferation of explosive weapons, cybersecurity and governance of the digital domain, security sector governance in West Africa, violent extremism as a gendered threat and technologies as challenges for arms control.
