VERTIC documents on the implementation of UNSCR 1540 submitted by the UK to the 1540 Committee
The United Kingdom Mission to the United Nations in New York submitted a set of documents prepared by VERTIC to the United Nations Security Council's 1540 Committee on 28 April 2015, as examples of effective practices for implementation.
The VERTIC documents in the submission include:
- 'Legislative Guide to National Implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1540 (2004)'
- 'Sample Act for National Implementation of the 1972 Biological and Toxin Weapons Convention and Related Requirements of UN Security Council Resolution 1540'
- 'Regulatory Guidelines for National Implementation of the 1972 Biological and Toxin Weapons Convention and Related Requirements of UN Security Council Resolution 1540'
- 'National Legislation Implementation Kit on Nuclear Security'
The development of these documents was made possible through the generous financial support of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office of the United Kingdom (Strategic Programme Fund) and Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development Canada (Global Partnership Program).
The document submitted by the UK also included a document from King’s College London and Association of University Legal Practitioners: the 'Higher Education Guide and Toolkit on Export Controls and the ATAS Student Vetting Scheme'.
