VERTIC congratulates Liberia and Nepal on becoming the 176th and 177th States Parties to the BWC

VERTIC congratulates Liberia and Nepal on becoming the 176th and 177th States Parties to the Biological and Toxin Weapons Convention. Both countries deposited their instruments of ratification with the United States (one of the Convention's depositaries along with Russia and the United Kingdom) on 4 November 2016.

VERTIC had the honour of working closely with Nepal during two workshops in 2014 with the objectives of raising awareness about the BWC, promoting Nepal’s ratification of the Convention as well as its implementation and offering legislative assistance as part of the BWC Action (an EU Council decision in support of the Convention). In honour of Nepal's ratification of the BWC, we make available a Nepali copy of the treaty here.

VERTIC looks forward to welcoming the Liberian and Nepali delegations to the Eighth Review Conference of the Biological Weapons Convention, which is taking place in Geneva during 7-25 November.
