Noel Stott joining VERTIC

VERTIC is pleased to welcome Mr Noel Stott, a senior fellow at the Institute for Security Studies, as a Senior Researcher on Verification and Monitoring. Mr Stott will bring over 14 years of arms control experience to the Centre.

Noel Stott joined the Institute for Security Studies in 2002 to work on the challenges facing African states by the proliferation of small arms and light weapons. In 2007, he was asked to set up and then lead a programme on ‘Africa’s Development and the Threat of Weapons of Mass Destruction’. ISS's WMD programme aims to enhance Africa’s role in international efforts to strengthen weapons of mass destruction disarmament and non-proliferation. The objective is to help build Africa’s capacity to respond to global and continental security challenges, through the provision of primary research, policy recommendations and training activities.

Andreas Persbo, VERTIC's Executive Director, said: "Noel Stott is a well known and highly respected researcher, thinker and convenor in our field. He has been a friend of the charity for many years. We have had the pleasure of working with ISS and Noel over several years on our project on multilateral verification on nuclear disarmament. I am very pleased that he has chosen to join us, and am looking forward to working with him closely for years to come."
