Legal officer Sonia Drobysz participated in conference on Nuclear Weapons and Human Security

The event was organised by the International Institute of Humanitarian Law (IIHL), with the support of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. It took place at Villa Ormond in Sanremo, Italy, the official IIHL seat, on 18 June.
In the aftermath of the 2015 NPT Review Conference marked by active debates on the humanitarian impact of nuclear weapons, the conference participants adopted a people-centred approach to discuss security issues posed by nuclear weapons through the lens of international law. The programme included presentations on the impact of nuclear weapons under international humanitarian law, human rights and international criminal law, and on the contribution of international non-proliferation law to human security.
Sonia Drobysz presented on the role of the International Atomic Energy Agency with regard to human security.
